Jacksonville (Mandarin) Real Estate

Mandarin, with its ancient oak trees draped with Spanish moss, beautiful parks, marinas, and exceptional water views, is located in the southernmost portion of Jacksonville.  A short drive from Jacksonville’s city center, Mandarin is bordered by Beauclerc to the north, Julington Creek to the south and St. John’s River to the west.

Mandarin’s upscale neighborhoods have charming tree-lined streets, beautiful homes, historic buildings, and large riverfront estates.  The lifestyle is family-oriented with exceptional schools, a plethora of recreational opportunities, and interesting shopping.

The Mandarin area is steeped with history.  Probably the most told story is about Harriet Beecher Stowe, who purchased a cottage here in 1867.  She would welcome tourists debarking from the steamers and charged them 75 cents to meet her and tour her home and surroundings.  At that time the Mandarin area was a small farming village that shipped oranges and other fruits to communities on the St. John’s River . . . thus the name, Mandarin.
